Zen Groove

Zen bought his first set of decks at 14 and has been immersed in dance music ever since, spending every spare moment collecting, mixing and seeking out the best music he could find. After joining the army at the age of 17 he made sure to keep his skills up by smuggling his decks into his barracks and playing at every opportunity possible, eventually seeking new musical frontiers at the iconic Slinky in Bournemouth.
Returning to London in 1999 after leaving the Army, Zen immediately stumbled across the thriving Hard House & Trance scene. He instantly fell in love with the music, energy and electric atmosphere and upgraded his ageing decks to a new set of Technics 1210’s. Weekly trips to record shops like Kinetic and Pure Groove alongside a dedicated attendance to the capital’s best clubs and gigs at the infamous Ega private after party soon lead to Zen’s first London booking with XLR8 at the Junction.
With an ear for great music, an unrivalled passion and the ability to whip the crowd into a frenzy, Zen’s technical skills behind the decks quickly lead to many more bookings for events like Provocation, Frantic and H.A.R.D. at clubs including Camden Palace, Brixton Academy, The End and Mass.
After a tour of Australia in 2005 Zen discovered the emerging Melbourne Electro House scene and returned to London determined to push the new ‘Dirty Electro’ sound he enjoyed so much down under. The Electro scene hit the big time in London a year later in 2006 when Fedde le Grand’s “Put Your Hands Up 4 Detroit” shot to number 1 in the UK Top 40 and whilst enjoying gigs in and around London as well as securing bookings in Mauritius, Thailand, Austria and Holland, Zen realised that he wanted to take his love for Electronic Music to the next level and learn to produce and engineer his own tracks.
Over the next decade Zen gained a wealth of experience of both large and small venues including Brixton Academy, The Gallery at Ministry of Sound, Electric, Koko, Heaven, Gigalum & Inigo. International Sets at Space Ibiza, Toolroom in Australia, Kazanti in Ukraine as well as headline sets in Crete, Germany and Poland.
Zen has been pumping out his driving blend of high energy, uplifting sounds to clubbers around the globe with great acclaim. In the studio Zen has worked on solo productions (ProGression, Before Dawn) and has collaborated with groundbreaking producers Lee Howe, Hilton Caswell, Paul Freegard, MPC, Tobie Allen, Charlie Bradley & Baz Sanders before heading back into the studio to further develop his craft.
More recently during the pandemic under his Zen Groove (house) and Cavallo Scuro (Techno) aliases he has written 2 albums and now has over 30 tracks set to release.
